Energía Costa Azul is committed to protecting and conserving the environment and will continue to support projects that enhance and protect the natural habitat that sustains the wildlife that live in this region.
Gray Whale Migration
Energía Costa Azul built monitoring stations to track migrating marine life, specifically the Gray Whale, to ensure their migration was not disrupted by the construction of the LNG terminal.
With the help of the Center for Scientific Research and Superior Education of Ensenada (CICESE) and the UABC, a marine mammal-monitoring plan was developed and successfully executed. When whales and other marine animals were seen in the area near the LNG terminal site, construction crews were immediately instructed to cease any work that might affect or disrupt the migration of these mammals.
