Community

Since 2015 with support from Fundación IEnova, we have allocated more than 28 million pesos in funds to benefit the Ensenada and Baja California community through its 4 giving areas (Education, Environment, Vulnerable Groups, and Community Services).
In Ensenada alone, the contributions of Fundación IEnova, under its 4 giving areas, has provided significant results:
Education: Scholarships for talent development in students.

• The Fundación UABC, A.C. “Alas para Volar” (Wings to Fly) program focuses on the development of low-income students at the University level, offering a housing stipend for studying a semester abroad.
• Instituto Educativo del Noroeste, A.C. (CETYS)
  • Fundación IEnova Scholarship – tuition for low income students at the University level.
  • Fundación IEnova Generation Scholarship – tuition covering University studies for two students.
  • Continuity of the clean energy Mobile Lab.

Environment: Installed solar panels, benefiting low-income senior citizens; environmental campaign.

• Casa Hogar del Anciano de Ensenada, A.C. – Installed photovoltaic panels and a heating system.
• Costasalvaje, A.C. – Competition for creating 5 murals in 5 neighborhoods in Ensenada, with a theme pertaining to the conservation of the coastal ecosystems, mainly the wetland (Ramsar Sites).

Vulnerable Groups: Infrastructure improvements in foster homes and centers that provide assistance to vulnerable groups.

• Casa Hogar del Anciano de Ensenada, A.C.:
  • Contributed to service and assistance, food, and hygiene expenses.
  • Contributed to the purchase of an industrial strength washing machine.
  • Refurbished the electrical system by replacing wiring and installing grounding systems, renewed led lighting, installed photovoltaic panels.
• Fundación para la Protección de la Niñez, I.A.P.: contributed to the adoption of fosters homes, supporting important projects to improve facilities.

Community Services:

• Cruz Roja Mexicana, I.A.P. (Ensenada Delegation): Contributed to the acquisition of a doctor’s clinic and mobile showers.

In 2004 we founded the Ensenada Trust (FIDEN) to sponsor projects that improve the quality of life of the people in Ensenada, with an investment of $7 million dollars.

Through FIDEN, a technical committee establishes, in a transparent and permanent manner, the financing priorities for certain projects and a consulting council assesses social projects and determines their feasibility and social impact.

As of this date, this Trust created by Energía Costa Azul has contributed to more than 28 projects that benefit society, including school furnishings, University-level scholarships, the rehabilitation of community centers, support for foster homes and for senior citizens, equipment for the Fire Department, patrols for public safety, ambulances, and the construction of an emergency center for the Red Cross, among others.

In the DNA of Energía Costa Azul there is a strong social component. Proof of this is its permanent approach with the Ensenada community through different social investment mechanisms such as the Ensenada Trust, Sempra Foundation and company resources.

They have benefited thousands of lives in terms of education, improvement of infrastructure and public services, as well as promotion of environmental care and support for vulnerable groups.

Energía Costa Azul – ECA Liquefaction

With the arrival of the project of Reconversion of the current facilities, $ 500 million pesos has been allocated for the implementation of projects divided into the following axes:

1. Rehabilitation of public spaces
2. Equipment for improvement in Public Safety
3. Equipment for improvement of Public Services
4. Public Infrastructure

Sempra Infrastructure Foundation

Formerly known as the Ienova Foundation and then the Sempra Foundation, the Sempra Infrastructure Foundation is a corporate-level mechanism committed to transforming lives by supporting organizations and programs that contribute to the development of the communities to which we belong.

The lines of action of Fundación Sempra SI are: Education, with emphasis on scholarships, educational programs related to energy and environmental care; and Access to Energy in attention to groups in vulnerable situations.

Ensenada Trust

Created by Energía Costa Azul with an initial fund of seven million dollars for at least 28 community projects, Fiden exists with the aim of having a permanent, citizen and transparent mechanism to support projects of high social impact for Ensenada. Since then it has supported 28 projects.

Among the initiatives supported by Fiden, school equipment, scholarships for university students, rehabilitation of community centers, support for homes, support for the elderly, equipment for firefighters and the red cross, and support of 15 million pesos to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, among others, stand out.
