Prior to the construction phase of Energía Costa Azul, we implemented a program to rescue, transplant, plant, and monitor 700,000 organisms of high commercial and ecological value, including sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and sea snails. This program was established in collaboration with local fishermen, the Autonomous University of Baja California (UABC), and other experts, with a 99% survival rate for the transplanted species.
During this time we also developed a training program with local fishermen to encourage them to harvest sea urchins in a responsible and sustainable manner in order to contribute to the protection and propagation the species.
